Cole Brookson

Computational Biologist

Cole (he/they) is a PhD student in Colin Carlson’s lab at Georgetown University. He is a computational biologist, and is especially interested in spillover and transmission predictability and forecasting. Their previous research mostly focused on understanding food web structure and fisheries dynamics. More recently, he has worked modeling the effect of parasite spillover from aquaculture to wild fish stocks on North America’s west coast. For their PhD research, they aim to blend theory and empiricism to better understand how “predictable” particular emergence and transmission dynamics can be, and subsequently identify ways to narrow the gap between theoretical and realized predictability.
