Postdoctoral Fellow
Rory Wilson is a medical doctor who trained at the University of Glasgow. During medical school he completed an infectious disease observership in Hong Kong, a World Health Organization internship, and an intercalated Global Health B.Sc. at Imperial College with First Class Honours. He graduated early in March 2020 to assist the National Health Service (NHS) COVID-19 response. He spent two years as an Academic Foundation Doctor in NHS Scotland, focusing his research on seasonal coronavirus epidemiology.
Beginning in August 2022, he spent six months working in a Scottish public health department and then conducted a series of tropical medicine observerships in Thai and Laotian hospitals, using his Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. During this period he received a Frank Knox Fellowship to conduct a MPH at Harvard University from August 2023. He now hopes to use his postdoctoral fellowship to explore global health security and deepen his understanding of domestic public health policy pertaining to disaster response and pandemic preparedness.
