Annotated Bibliographies

The International Health Regulations (IHR), a World Health Organization (WHO) treaty outlining the governing framework for global health security, have been signed by 196 States Parties and strive to “prevent, protect against, control and provide a public health response to the international spread of disease.” 

The WHO Joint External Evaluation (JEE) tool represents one mechanism for evaluating the national-level health security capacities required to prevent, detect, and respond to public health threats, as outlined in the IHR. The JEE is composed of 19 indicators, that are divided into 4 major categories: preventing threats, detecting threats, responding to threats, and other considerations.

The IHR resources compiled by the Center for Global Health Science and Security aim to provide users with comprehensive bibliographies on the indicators listed in the JEE. The bibliographies include conference reports, guidance documents, and peer-reviewed articles detailing the various aspects of the IHR and JEE.
