Sophia Kaplan, B.A.

Senior Research Associate

Sophia Kaplan is a Senior Research Associate at the Center for Global Health Science and Security. She holds a double B.A. in Political Science and Religion from Haverford College (May 2023) and is currently pursuing an MSc in International Health Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Prior to joining Georgetown, Sophia worked at USAID’s Bureau for Global Health, providing project management and communications support to an innovation team specializing in digital health and non-traditional financing mechanisms. She also previously worked in grant management at the University of Maryland.

Sophia joined Georgetown as a member of the Health Security Operations Center (HSOC), which provided health intelligence support for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and other mass gatherings across North America throughout the summer of 2026. In her current role, she works with Dr. Rebecca Katz, contributing to domestic and international health intelligence activities and scholarship.
