Global Parliament of Mayors 2021
After the 2020 Annual Summit of the Global Parliament of Mayors was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meetings resumed in 2021. The Summit was held from October 22-23 in Palermo, Italy – using a hybrid format to convene over 75 mayors and experts from over 25 countries and five continents to discuss the role of cities in an array of topics, including public health.
Rebecca Katz and Matt Boyce supported these efforts by co-drafting a position paper on the importance of vaccinations in cities with urban health experts from the Social Determinants of Health Department at the World Health Organization. Matt Boyce also participated in the debate on public health as a respondent to the mayoral remarks.
