The Role of the World Bank in Advancing Global Health Security

Though the incidence of infectious diseases has declined at the global level, these diseases still pose major health and economic costs. Following the recent Zika and Ebola outbreaks, The World Bank Group (WBG) established the International Working Group on Financing Preparedness, which found that despite progress made since these outbreaks, most countries are still not adequately prepared to respond to a pandemic threat. Dr. Mukesh Chawla will join us for the final Global Health Security Seminar of 2017, to discuss these issues and present the important role the WBG plays in advancing global health security.
