Intersections Between the Global Health Security Agenda and National Public Health Institutes
Public health activities can be fragmented with responsibility spread across multiple entities, either within the Ministry of Health (MOH) or across multiple entities outside of the MOH. Disjointed systems can lead to inefficiency, a lack of leadership and accountability, and, ultimately, a reduced impact of programs. In our first Global Health Security Seminar of 2019, Jim Banaski and Shelly Bratton will discuss how CDC’s National Public Health Institute (NPHI) Program is working to build strong, functional National Public Health Institutes (NPHIs) that can serve as the home for health security activities; provide the capacity to plan, coordinate, and implement; and help to link systems that promote sustainable health security investments.
This event was a part of the Global Health Security Seminar Series, which is co-sponsored by Georgetown’s Center for Global Health Science and Security and the Global Health Initiative.
