Kerrie Thornhill

Dr. Kerrie Thornhill founded Résolu Ltd in 2019. Her previous roles include Assistant Professor in Gender Violence at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Course Leader in Gender, Geography & Environment at University of Oxford, consultant for ebola research led by UNMEER/WHO/Ebola Anthropology Initiative, and Research Team Leader for Centre for Study of African Economies (CSAE) Oxford. Her research on gender-based violence in postwar Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire has been published in Gender, Place & Culture, Third World Quarterly, BMJ Open, and Democracy in Africa. For her DPhil dissertation, she conducted highly sensitive mixed-methods fieldwork in Monrovia, living with host communities in Caldwell, Red Hill Field, Hotel Africa, and Central Monrovia. Dr. Thornhill’s research has won prestigious awards and funding from the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation, the Oxford University Press Clarendon Fund, and the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) ‘Hall of Fame’. While directing Résolu, she currently works as a Country-of-Origin Information (COI) Expert for refugee hearings, and conducts leadership training for the Rhodes Trust. She speaks English, French, and basic Hindi/Urdu, and is familiar with R, OpenDataKit, NVivo, and a wide range of quantitative and qualitative research techniques.
