Abbey Woolverton

Ph.D. Student

Abbey Woolverton is a 2^nd year Ph.D. student in the Global Infectious Diseases Program at Georgetown University. In addition to her interests in infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance, she has developed a love of computer programming as a way to analyze and communicate public health data. To this end, she will be completing a Global Health Fellows Program II Data Science and Visualization Internship with the USAID Bureau for Global Health, where she will be utilizing existing skills in software such as R and Tableau.

Prior to her doctoral program, Woolverton worked as a research assistant for Dr. Lance Price, Director of the Antibiotic Resistance Action Center at GWU, examining novel strategies to prevent the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. She also interned with the Cooperative Biological Engagement Program at the Center for Disaster and Humanitarian Assistance Medicine.

Woolverton holds an M.Sc. in Public Health Microbiology and Emerging Infectious Diseases from the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University as well as a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Mathematics from Kent State University.
