Ileana Vélez Alvarado
Ileana Vélez Alvarado is a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for Global Health Science and Security, where she works under Dr. Claire Standley in developing emergency management training and capacity building for the COVID-19 emergency response. She is a graduate student in the Emergency and Disaster Management program at Georgetown University. Prior to her master program, she worked as a caseworker for FEMA in the Individual and Households Program (IHP) and supported disaster recovery following the 2017 disasters.
Ileana graduated with high honors from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor in Business Administration and a minor in Languages. Her interests include sustainable development, global health and disaster risk reduction.
