Maya Wiese

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Maya Wiese is a current Georgetown student graduating in 2027 from the Walsh School of Foreign Service, and is pursuing a B.S. in Science, Technology, and International Affairs and a minor in Spanish, earning Dean’s List in all completed semesters.

Maya joined the Center as an Undergraduate Research Assistant under Dr. Rebecca Katz in the Spring of 2025. Her major projects thusfar include researching and contextualizing the national and state legal landscape related to emergency and disaster situations, as well as contributing to a report for the Atlantic Council on critical mineral mining and public health in Africa.

Maya is also a student-athlete on the Georgetown Varsity Soccer team, claiming the Big East Championship during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Her specific research interests include the impacts of policy changes on community public health conditions, the intersection of environmental degradation and health, and the sustainable implementation of clean energy technologies.
