National Center for Health Security and Resilience
Operationalizing Health Security
Federal, state and local resources for public health in the United States are rapidly changing, as are the formal relationships between the United States and International collaborators. While the health, national, and economic security landscapes shift, infectious disease threats continue to evolve, threatening lives, livelihoods, and stability.
The Center for Global Health Science and Security has been advancing global and domestic health security through the formation of the National Center for Health Security and Resilience, a partnership with MedStar Health. This novel partnership has led to the development of two interrelated efforts to leverage multi-sectoral expertise and fill critical health security gaps.
Health Security Operations Center: 2026 World Cup Integrated Non-Governmental Coordination Cell
The National Center for Health Security and Resilience, in collaboration with various organizations engaged in public health preparedness, will host a non-governmental coordination cell, focused on infectious disease threats associated with the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This Health Security Operations Center will support local, state, federal and international public health institutions, as well as provide information directly to healthcare systems.
